D iwali is just round the corner it’s the time for dressing up in your traditional best. There are the card parties, the office parties, Diwali melas – just too many events to attend. If you're ready to spend money, then sky is the limit – you’ll be spoilt with choices! But if you have a limited budget, like us, then you’ll have to make do with whatever you already have in your closet. Because sometimes, dressing up for festivities can seem like a pain in the neck, follow our easy tips to look all decked up without trying too much!

Here are a few easy styling tips that will make it simple for you to curate your outfit the last minute!

1. Plain saree + crop top = Magic!

When you're low on budget, you obviously cannot buy a Diwali-perfect lehenga or even a sari! But the good news is – you can experiment with your clothes this Diwali! Go indo-western – all we can think of is maxi skirts, palazzos and culottes – because, guess what, it’s comfortable and fuss-free! And you can make heads turn even in a simple saree...

If you have a plain & simple saree, just ditch the boring blouse and wear a fun crop top or bralette instead! Sure blouses fit you so well and make you look sexy, but the key is to look different this Diwali. You can opt for T-shirt like crop-tops, printed, off-shoulder or one-shoulder – the choices are endless!

To spice things up, you could wear cigarette pants or palazzo pants with the saree. Wear it dhoti-style and cinch waist with a metallic belt!

2. Pair your dress with skirt

Have a teeny bodycon dress you haven’t worn in a while? Well, you can now wear it for Diwali parties! Just pair it with a maxi skirt and get your va va voom back!

3. Wear statement fashion jewelry

If you’re still not happy with the outfit – if it’s too plain for your taste, then make it up with jewelry. Make sure your jewelry is on point. Pick one statement piece to work for you – either a pair of earrings or a statement necklace. We especially love how Sonam Kapoor has amped up the glam with these shoulder-grazing danglers...

If you’re wearing ethnic wear, then go minimal with the jewelry.

4. Juttis are the new stilettos!

Yes, you heard it – juttis are the new stilettos! So even if you don’t have those gold-toned ethnic stilettos or wedges, you don’t have to buy new ones. You can wear flat sandals or juttis which are so hot right now!

5. Messy hair is more stylish

While we love neat do’s with hair accessories, this time we are aiming for easy hairstyles. Keep elaborate do’s and accessories for weddings, this Diwali, keep it effortless. Go for a messy top knot or messy side braid – stylish yet so chic & effortlessly cool!

6. Or just rent it!

... if you can’t work with any of the looks that we listed, and if you *want* to wear a designer outfit, you can rent it! There are just so many place where you can rent it from – Rent A Closet, Flyrobe and Satge3 are to name a few. Rent a lehenga, anarkali, saree, salwar kameez, jewelry and even footwear!

So this is how we are dressing up for Diwali, do tell us about your outfit of the day!
