T he year 2016 saw a number of crazy makeup and hair trends. From ribbon eyeliner, ear makeup, succulent nails, foil makeup and glow-in-the-dark hair to the quirky lip art. But what has us swooning and sigh with awe is the crystal lip trend, particularly “geode lips”. This trend is inspired by amethyst geode rocks! This lip trend was all over Instagram and YouTube and we couldn’t help but try it out ourselves.

The process includes mixing and a lot of layering of heavy glitter & tiny crystals, a base liquid lip colour, a metallic liquid lip colour and a clear gloss, which then develops the rock-like appearance, informs New York-based makeup artist Johannah Adams. And it may take about an hour to create.

We feel that there’s nothing like “too shiny” and these crystal lips are truly the works of art!
